On September 19, 2019, the 10th ISNs( international newborn screening academic conference) was officially held in Hangzhou. Jim Bonham, President designate of the international society for neonatal screening, announced the opening of the 10th International Conference on neonatal screening. Wang Kerang, director of the children's Department of the Department of maternal and child health of the National Health Commission, Professor Li Xiaoming, executive vice president of Zhejiang University School of medicine, Professor Fu junfen, executive vice president of children's Hospital Affiliated to Zhejiang University School of medicine, President of the conference and children affiliated to Zhejiang University School of Medicine Professor Zhao Zhengyan of the hospital and Professor Rodney Howell, President of the international society of neonatal screening, delivered a speech at the conference.

Neonatal disease screening is the last line of defense to prevent birth defects. Birth defects have become an increasingly serious public health problem. It is urgent to reduce birth defects. In this context, newborn screening is very important. Early detection, early diagnosis, early intervention and early treatment are important means to reduce birth defects and improve the quality of the birth population. During the conference, nearly 500 international and domestic representatives from more than 30 countries and regions attended. The conference focused on the application of new technology, the expansion of new diseases, quality control and assurance, clinical diagnosis and information management, conducted in-depth academic exchanges and discussions, brought us the clinical practice of newborn screening and diagnosis of multiple rare diseases, and shared the newborn genome screening. And the latest research progress of gene therapy.
